Get the best out of your Theo French Press
To get the best brew out of your Theo French Press, we recommend pre-heating the jug and your mugs with a few centimetres of boiling hot water. As the jug is made with thick ceramic it holds it’s temperature well once it’s heated up, but you really want it to already be hot when your coffee gets to it so your coffee stays hot while it’s taking it’s time brewing. This is slow coffee after all!
You might have clocked that we’re pretty big advocates of the coffee bloom, and making a cafetière coffee should be no exception. After you’ve preheated your jug and added your fresh coffee grounds, add a little water (just enough to cover the grounds) and give it a good stir to make sure that all the coffee is saturated. Leave this for 20-30 seconds to allow the coffee grounds to open up ready to release their flavour.
Finally pour the rest of the hot water, filling to a ~3cm from the rim, and give it a final stir to ensure that you’re getting contact with the coffee grounds.
Patiently leave to brew for 3 or 4 minutes, and you’re ready to enjoy your perfectly brewed coffee!
